ntil when will you, Jonah, be running away from the face of God? You appeared disobedient in many instances; such as God's direct invitation to you saying: "Rise and go to Nineveh", and you decide to go the opposite to Tarshish! Then God speaks to you through a mighty wind, and you choose to sleep at the bottom of the ship. God also speaks to you through the innocent sailors who, when faced with trials and tribulations, call each one to his god. Your heart remained unmoved. Finally, the sailors cast lots to see who is responsible for this evil. The lot falls on you, Jonah, and you’re sentenced to death because you confessed. "For the men know that he fled from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them" (Jonah1:10 ).
